About this design

The story behind it
Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais was a celebrated Paris playwright. In 1776 he also set up Roderigue Hortalez and Company, a trading firm that was really a front: with secret money from the French and Spanish crowns, it shipped muskets, gunpowder and supplies to the American rebels.
