The story behind it
In Lewis Carroll's 1865 storybook classic, illustrated by John Tenniel, a rabbit in a waistcoat hurries past checking his pocket watch and fretting that he will be late. Later, at the tea party, the Hatter's watch turns out to be two days wrong.
