The story behind it
The Yule goat is an old Scandinavian Christmas symbol, best known today as a straw ornament tied with red ribbon. Since 1966 the Swedish town of Gävle has raised a giant straw goat every Advent; it has been burned or otherwise damaged in most of the years since, and the town simply builds another.
